About POST
POST's mission is to engage, connect and equip the Mecklenburg County community to deliver high quality afterschool and summer learning opportunities for all Mecklenburg County students (K-12). “Out-of-School Time” refers to all of the hours before school, after school, teacher workdays, school holidays, weekends, and summers. Experiences that foster social, emotional, physical, moral, and intellectual development are proven to be essential for children and youth to become capable and effective members of society.
POST’s vision is that all Mecklenburg County students (K-12) have the opportunity to continue learning after school and during summer in order to build the skills necessary to become productive community members.
To accomplish its mission, POST will:
☼ ENGAGE: Proactively lead the community in continuous conversation about priority issues and solutions via strategic communication tools,
☼ CONNECT: Identify and create strategic collaborations to increase opportunities for youth in afterschool and summer programs,
☼ EQUIP: Create and manage a quality improvement system of practices, assessments, coaching and training

POST’s current activities and services include:
☼ The Summer Camp Fund
☼ Professional Development through trainings and providing technical assistance
☼ Leaf and STEM
☼ Convene over 60 youth-serving organizations through POST Partners
☼ Publish POSTings and maintain POST website
☼ Develop 21st century curricula in arts, technology, and global explorations
☼ Partner with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to expand afterschool
☼ Partner with Charlotte Housing Authority, Gang Prevention Coalition, Youth Violence Prevention Conference, Mayor’s Mentoring Alliance, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Women’s Summit and the Children’s Alliance
POST's primary constituents are: 1) children, youth and families; 2) out-of-school time providers; 3) public policy makers and funders; and 4) private funders. POST operates in collaboration with partners in Mecklenburg County, across both Carolinas, and nationally to advance youth development.
