Find out about the standards for out-of-school time programs that Charlotte-Mecklenburg and POST have adopted.
One of the first tasks POST and its community partners undertook was to set standards for out-of-school time programs and activities. Adapted from the quality standards of the National AfterSchool Association, the POST Core Standards describe the characteristics of high quality programs. POST encourages all programs, funders, families, and professionals to work toward achieving these standards.
POST Core Standards can be used to guide program development and evaluation, as well as strategies for program improvement. These standards are set for the areas of:
- Human relationships
- Indoor environment
- Outdoor environment
- Activities
- Safety, health and nutrition
- Administration
